According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Health on October 20, a 38-year-old woman was found to be infected with monkeypox virus after entering the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City. The woman went to Dubai, United Arab Emirates from September 29 to October 18. She developed fever and other symptoms since October 11. After returning to Ho Chi Minh Tan Son Nhat International Airport, she was isolated and tested for monkeypox infection. The woman previously lived in Dubai with Vietnam’s first monkeypox patient.
The first case of monkeypox in Vietnam was a 35-year-old woman who developed symptoms such as fever and erythema while traveling in Dubai on September 18. She returned to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on September 22 and was diagnosed with monkeypox.
