India defeated Pakistan by four wickets in the first match of Group Two in the T20 World Cup after a nerve-wracking encounter.
In the match played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, India achieved the target of 160 runs on the last ball of the 20th over. Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 82 runs and played a pivotal role in his team’s victory. On behalf of Pakistan, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz dismissed two players each.
India won the toss and decided to bowl first. In the beginning, the Pakistani batting line looked helpless in front of the Indian fast bowlers. But the green shirts scored 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs thanks to Shaun Masood’s 52 and Iftikhar Ahmed’s 51.
Hardik Pandya and Arsdeep Singh took three wickets each for India.
