On November 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed an amendment to the deprivation of acquired Russian citizenship to the draft citizenship law passed by the State Duma at first reading. The amendment provides for deprivation of acquired citizenship for defamation of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, public calls for action to violate the territory of the Russian Federation and participation in unwelcome foreign or international non-profit organizations.
At the end of December 2021, Putin submitted the draft Law on Citizenship of the Russian Federation to the State Duma. The document specifically provides for the reduction of more than 20 categories of people from obtaining Russian citizenship.
