The meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council will be held on December 1 and 2 in Poland, which holds the rotating presidency of the organization. On the 19th, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is expected that Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov will not attend the meeting. Poland’s foreign ministry said it had informed Russia of Poland’s position on the matter in a diplomatic note. According to reports, Lavrov is one of the Russian officials sanctioned by Poland, which has banned his entry.
The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to this on the same day, saying that as the rotating presidency of the OSCE, Poland’s decision is “unprecedented and provocative”, and Russia cannot accept this. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the Russian delegation attending the meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers will be led by the permanent representative of Russia to the OSCE.
