Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigation Department has arrested its diplomat posted in Oman on charges of women trafficking.
According to a Sri Lankan newspaper, Kushan was arrested this morning on his arrival. At Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport from Muscat.
Third Secretary Koshan is facing serious charges of sexual harassment of Sri Lankan women seeking employment in Oman. And smuggling and selling women from Sri Lanka to Oman, and corruption.
Sri Lanka’s Public Accounts Committee said the embassy official had been suspended from his diplomatic duties over the complaints.
The committee said that complaints were being received against the diplomat since February this year.
According to the Omani Coast Guard report, this year 203 people from 21 different countries have been arrested for entering the country illegally.
