Germany’s Handelsblatt recently quoted data from market research company ICIS as reporting that since the beginning of this year, Russia’s supply of LNG to the EU and the UK by sea has increased by 21% compared with last year, reaching a record high.
According to reports, from January to November this year, EU member states and the United Kingdom paid about 27 billion euros for Russian LNG. In an interview with Handelsblatt, ICIS gas experts pointed out that 13% of LNG imported into Europe comes from Russia, and this figure is growing strongly. However, the volume of natural gas supplied by Russia to European countries through pipelines has decreased compared with the same period last year. The natural gas pipeline passing through Ukraine is currently the only pipeline that supplies natural gas from Russia to countries in Western and Central Europe
