Cyclone (Mendes) wreaked havoc in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu.
Due to the Cyclone (Mendes), hundreds of trees were uprooted and residential areas were flooded. Millions of people lost electricity and thousands were displaced. Also, four people died in different accidents.
According to Indian media, more than 400 trees were also uprooted by Cyclone winds and rain in the city of Chennai and around areas affected by the hurricane that hit the coast last night.
184 huts and houses were damaged by the storm. Roads and streets in the area also flooded. 10000 people were shifted to relief camps due to water entering into the residential areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, It has gradually weakened and turned into a low pressure.
