Efforts are being made to evacuate 18 miners trapped in a gold mine in China.
According to the news agency AFP, at least 40 people were trapped in a gold mine in China’s Xinjiang province, but rescue workers rescued 28 people safely.
Officials say they are trying to evacuate the remaining trapped miners.
Safety measures in the mining sector have improved in recent years, but still incidents of mine landings occur during mining.
The reason for which is said to be non-implementation of safety measures.
In September last year, 19 workers were trapped in a coal mine collapse in Qinghai province. After a long rescue operation, the miners were found dead.
In December last year, 20 people were pulled out of a coal mine in Shanxi province, while two people died.
