From December 28 to 30, 2022, the 11th representative meeting of the Sichuan, China Buddhist Association was held in Chengdu. 248 representatives from more than 200 monasteries in 21 cities (states) across the province attended the meeting. The meeting heard and reviewed and approved the “Work Report of the Tenth Council of Sichuan Buddhist Association”, “Financial Work Report of the Tenth Council of Sichuan Buddhist Association”, “Articles of Association of Sichuan Buddhist Association (Revised Draft)”, and passed the “Sichuan Provincial Three institutional documents including the Code of Conduct for Chinese Buddhist Clerks of the Buddhist Association.
The meeting elected the 11th council, executive council, leadership team and board of supervisors of the Sichuan Buddhist Association. Quan, Shi Daen, Shi Zhihai, Shi Yiji, Shi Suhui, Shi Zhaoguan, Shi Zhaozhou, Shi Xinjing, Shi Puzheng, Shi Changming, Shi Ruyi, Shi Benjing, Shi Yanfa, Shi Guo Ping, Shi Zhaojie, Shi Nenggan, Shi Manlin, Shi Zhiguo, Shi Kuanren, Jiadeng Luorong Xiangba, Daza Garang Tuobudan Laxi Jiangcuo, Xianggen Bianma Renqing, Bhaga, Penka Gassang Rinjing, Tenzin Longdonima, Dorje Tashi, Tende Dorje, Gejiao Yundeng Gyatso, Phuntso Langa, Drozangcang Jamyang Gele Yongden Jiacuo, Tubudan Queji Gyaltsan, and Jiayang Lezhu were elected as vice presidents; Han Jiaoping was elected as secretary general; Longxiu was elected as chairman of the board of supervisors; Xianggen Baden Dorje was elected as the honorary member of the 11th board of directors President. The chairman and vice-chairman of the advisory committee and members of the Tibetan Buddhism Working Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Association were also elected.
The meeting held that in the past five years, the Sichuan Buddhist Association has conscientiously studied and implemented Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the spirit of the 19th and 20th CPC National Congresses, fully implemented the party’s policy on freedom of religious belief and national laws and regulations, and played a bridge As a link, guide the Buddhist community in the province to adhere to the direction of Sinicization of Buddhism, practice the socialist core values and humanistic Buddhism, strengthen self-construction and teaching style construction, resist the adverse effects of commercialization, promote the healthy inheritance of Buddhism, and build a well-off society in an all-round way made positive contributions.
The meeting called for the province’s Buddhist circles to continue to study, publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the 12th Provincial Party Congress, the United Front Work Conference of the Central Provincial Party Committee, and the National and Provincial Religious Work Conference, and adhere to the direction of my country’s religion in China.
