The US has made visa waivers for Israeli citizens conditional on free travel to the West Bank for Palestinians who have obtained US citizenship.
The American ambassador posted in Israel says that Palestinian people who have American citizenship should be given freedom of travel in the West Bank.
“We want Palestinian Americans to have the freedom to travel from Ben Gurion to Ramallah,” Ambassador Thomas Nides told Israeli radio.
He said that when we make all these matters feasible, Israeli citizens will never have to stand in a queue to come to America.
The Israeli military spokesman was asked if work was being done to provide special permits to Palestinian-Americans to travel to the West Bank, and he said, “We have nothing new to report.”
According to the Arab American Institute Foundation, the number of Americans of Palestinian descent is between 122,000 and 220,000.
