The Pakistan Railways Corporation held a ceremony on January 27, announcing that the railway passenger cars imported from China in 2022 will be incorporated into the Green Line express train group and officially put into passenger operation.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, saying that China has exported very advanced railway passenger cars with many new functions to Pakistan. After these passenger cars are put into operation, they will enhance the image of Pakistan Railways, allow passengers to enjoy comfortable and fast travel, and help attract more passengers to choose railway travel.

In his speech, Pakistani Minister of Railways Khwaja Saad Rafiq thanked China for helping Pakistan to restore the Green Line express train service that had been suspended due to flooding.

In November 2022, the first batch of 46 wide-gauge passenger cars and spare parts of the 230 passenger car project exported to Pakistan by CRRC Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CRRC Tangshan Company”) arrived in Pakistan.

Su Weiyue, the full-time project manager of the Overseas Project Department of CRRC Tangshan Company, told the reporter that on the day of the ceremony, the green line express train set for passenger operation has a total of 9 carriages, of which 6 are passenger cars of CRRC Tangshan Company. The train will depart from the capital Islamabad Drive to the southern port city of Karachi.
