Pakistan’s former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has died.
On Sunday, military sources confirmed that Pervez Musharraf had died at the American Hospital in Dubai.
In 1999, Pervez Musharraf overthrew the government of Nawaz Sharif and seized power.
In 2007, Pervez Musharraf imposed an emergency in the country and put the judges under house arrest, which was later prosecuted for high treason against the constitution.
In this case, on December 17, 2019, a special court headed by Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth had pronounced the death penalty against Pervez Musharraf, declaring him guilty of violating the constitution and high treason.
Two judges of the special court, namely Justice Seth Waqar and Justice Shahid Karim, declared Pervez Musharraf guilty of breaking the constitution and high treason. while Justice Nazar Akbar disagreed with the decision saying that the prosecution had failed to prove its case. . The 196-page detailed judgment of the special court also includes a 42-page dissenting note by Justice Nazar Akbar.
The verdict also said that as per the evidence of the prosecution, the accused deserves exemplary punishment and is awarded death sentence separately for each charge.
Pervez Musharraf was born on August 11, 1943, in Delhi. After the establishment of Pakistan, his family moved to Karachi. He spent his childhood there, studied there.
He received his commission in the Pakistan Army on 19 April 1964.
Pervez Musharraf also participated in the wars of 1965 and 1971. In October 1998, Mangala was the Corps Commander when he came under the Prime Minister’s eye.
