120 people involved in cow smuggling and slaughtering have been arrested in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
An NDTV report quoted police officials as saying that out of the 120, 110 have been arrested as a precautionary measure while 10 have been detained for cow slaughter.
SP Roll Rajkumar Agarwal says that “persons who are involved in cow slaughter have been arrested from 29 police stations of Bareilly district.”
“Of these, 110 are those who were suspected of possibly slaughtering cows and have been arrested in advance, while 10 are those who are involved in cow slaughter.”
Rajkumar Agarwal further said that the campaign against the cow slaughterers has been launched under the direction of SSP Akhilesh Chaurasia.
According to him, a large quantity of big meat and cow slaughtering equipment have also been recovered from the arrested persons.
Rajkumar Agarwal said that the law and order situation in the district was deteriorating due to the incidents of cow slaughter.
“Over the past seven days, incidents of cow slaughter have increased sharply in Bareilly, leading to outrage among Hindu organizations.”
He further said that for this reason, the situation of law and order has deteriorated several times. After this, strict instructions were issued by the SSP to the in-charges of all the police stations.
