Meta said in late January that it would restore Trump‘s social media accounts and promised to make a decision within a few weeks. Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs, said Trump would be allowed to return to the Facebook platform as long as he didn’t violate the rules.
Trump’s multiple social platform accounts were banned on suspicion of “inciting violence” during the Capitol riots in 2021. Since then, he has funded the creation of new social platforms. Trump currently has 34 million fans on his Facebook account and 23 million on Instagram. After the account was unblocked, he did not update the post, and only sporadic supporters left messages.
