Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has announced that the head of the outlawed ISIS organisation was killed in the operation of the Turkish forces in Syria.
According to the Associated Press news agency, President Erdoan said in an interview given to the state television TRT that on Saturday the Turkish army killed ISIS leader Abu Hussain al-Quraishi in an attack.
President Erdoan said that the Turkish intelligence agency MIT had been chasing the head of ISIS for a long time.
President of Turkey said, “We will continue our efforts against terrorist organisations without discrimination.”
It should be noted that several operations have been conducted by Turkey against ISIS and Kurdish groups on the border of Syria, in which suspected militants were killed or arrested.
As a result of the operation launched to remove the Kurdish groups from the Syrian border, a large part of the north of the country is under the control of Turkey.
Abu Hussain al-Quraishi was appointed head of the organisation after the death of the former head of ISIS in October.
It should be noted that in October 2019, the founder of Daesh, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed by American forces in an operation in northwestern Syria.
Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Quraishi was elected head of the organisation after the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was killed in an attack in February 2022.
