Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi has said that if the hosting of the Asia Cup is withdrawn, there is a “high probability” that his team will not participate in the World Cup in India.
In an interview with the news agency Reuters, Najam Sethi said that India wants to take the Asia Cup out of Pakistan.
Bilateral cricket has not been played for the past decade due to political tension and conflict between neighboring countries Pakistan and India, and both teams face each other at the same time that there is a multinational event held at a neutral venue.
India had refused to play Asia Cup matches in Pakistan due to security concerns. For the Asia Cup to be played in September, Pakistan had asked to hold the matches of the World Cup in the UAE under the ‘hybrid model’ on the proposal of holding the matches of the two teams in the grounds of the Emirates.
