Former Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Sami Jamali, has passed away in Karachi.
Sami Jamali had been undergoing treatment in the intensive care ward of a private hospital in Karachi for some time.
He served in the medical field in Karachi for three decades.
Sami Jamali’s husband, Dr. AR Jamali, told me that on May 27, Sami Jamali’s health suddenly deteriorated. All possible medical facilities were provided to him by the doctors, but he could not recover.
He further informed me that Dr. Sapmi Jamali’s funeral prayer will be offered in the Jinnah Hospital mosque on Sunday evening.
Who was Dr. Sami Jamali?
Dr. Sami Jamali received his MBBS from Nawab Shah Medical College in 1986. In 1987, he completed his house job at Civil Hospital Karachi, and in 1988, he joined the service at Jinnah Hospital.
In 1995, Dr. Sammy became in charge of the accident department at Jinnah Hospital. It was a time when the situation in Karachi was very tense.
Considering Sami Jamali’s services and performance, she was appointed Joint Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital in 2010 and then Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital in 2016.
In the year 2019, Sami Jamali was also awarded the National Civilian Award of Distinction for outstanding performance, and in the same year, he was also given the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the Pakistan Army.
Dr. Sami Jamali was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020 and started treatment.
