Kyiv’s parliament has approved new sanctions on Iran for supporting Russia against Ukraine.
According to the French news agency AFP, Kiev says that since the attack on Ukraine, Iran has been providing weapons to Russia.
The move comes a day after Ukrainian officials said that Russia has been using Iranian-made “Shahid drones” against Kiev since the beginning of the attack.
The website of the Parliament of Ukraine stated that “the resolution of sanctions on Iran is in line with the actions of the civilised world that are leading Iran to a journey of complete isolation.”
The sanctions package also includes the suspension of “financial and economic” deals with Iran, with the exception of “military and dual-use goods”.
The resolution needs President Zelensky’s signature to become final law, which is a formality since the bill was introduced by him.
The Ukrainian president addressed the Iranian people directly last week and said, “Why do you want to be a partner of Russia’s terror?”
His adviser, Mykhailo Rodolyak, said on Sunday that Kiev had been attacked by dozens of Iranian-made Shahid drones and called the Iranian government a “terrorist regime”.
He written in his Twitter account that “Tehran has become a close partner of Russia in this war and is deliberately providing weapons used to target ukraine.”

On the other hand, in response, Tehran said that “Zelinsky is making such efforts to get financial and military support from the Western world.”
Keep in mind that Russia attacked neighbouring Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and since then continuous fighting has been going on. Ukraine is supported and aided by the United States, the European Union, and other Western countries.
Similarly, many other countries have imposed sanctions on Russia besides the United States and the European Union.
Ukraine has accused Iran of supporting and supplying arms to Russia since its inception, but this is the first time that direct sanctions have been taken against it.
