According to Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran announced on the 6th that it has independently developed a hypersonic ballistic missile called “Fatah”.

According to reports, the unveiling ceremony was held on the morning of the same day, with Iranian President Ibrahim Rahim, Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander-in-Chief Hussein Salami, and Iranian Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Forces Commander Amir-Ali Hajiza De attending the ceremony.
The Mehr News Agency stated that the “Fatah” hypersonic missile was developed by the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards of Iran. The missile has a range of 1,400 kilometres and “can break through and destroy all missile defence systems.”

Reuters, which also noticed the news, quoted the Yitong News Agency as saying that the “Fatah” hypersonic missile is Iran’s first domestically produced hypersonic ballistic missile. Reuters also said that hypersonic missiles travel at least five times the speed of sound and have complex flight trajectories, making them difficult to intercept.
According to news from Xinhua News Agency in November 2022, Hajizad, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Forces, stated on the 10th of that month that Iran had developed its first hypersonic ballistic missile, marking a huge leap for Iran in the development of a new generation of missiles.
