A Philippine passenger ship carrying 120 passengers and crew members caught fire while sailing in the Philippines on Sunday.
According to the American news agency Associated Press, Philippine Coast Guard officials have said that upon receiving the information. A rescue ship was immediately dispatched to save the passengers.
The Coast Guard’s report further stated that the Esperanza Star caught fire in the early hours of the morning. While it was en route from Siquijor province to Bohol province in the central Philippines.
The initial report did not indicate whether any passengers were killed or injured in the accident, nor did it say how many people were rescued from the accident.
Photos and video released by the Philippine Coast Guard show flames and black smoke billowing from two different parts of the ship.
Coast Guard personnel immediately approached the vessel and used water cannons to try to extinguish the fire.
