An Israeli military spokesman claimed to have hit a Syrian air defence battery that fired an anti-aircraft missile towards Israel.
According to the Reuters news agency, the army spokesman said in a statement issued on Sunday that Israeli warplanes had also hit other locations in the area. There were no reports of any casualties from the Syrian missile strikes.
Earlier, Syria’s official news agency, SANA, said that the country’s air defence system stopped. The Israeli missile attack in the central parts of Syria and shot down most of the missiles.
The news agency says the missiles, which flew over parts of Lebanon’s capital Beirut. Fell on locations around the Syrian city of Homs, causing property damage.
