According to the news agency AFP, American President Joe Biden announced that destruction of the decades-old stockpile of chemical weapons.
This move is considereing a good step towards eliminating stockpiles of weapons that cause mass casualties around the world.
“Today, I am proud to announce that. The U St has safely destroyed the last of its chemical weapons stockpile,” President said. This initiative is an important step towards making the world more safe from the horrors of these chemical weapons.
Countries around the world signed a convention on the elimination of chemical weapons in 1997. The United States is the last signatory to the treaty to destroy its stockpile of these weapons. But some countries believed to have secret stockpiles of these weapons.
The World Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has described the US announcement as a “historic achievement”.
America’s announcement of the elimination of chemical weapons comes more than 100 years after the uncontrolled use of chemical gas during World War II.

The use of chemical gas maimed a large number of soldiers and caused mass casualties.
The world body has said that the US president’s announcement means that the stockpiles of chemical weapons recognised around the world have been completely destroyed and that the process cannot be reversed.
Fernando Arias, director general of the World Organisation against Chemical Weapons, said, “I congratulate all parties and the United States on this opportunity for the international community to achieve this goal.”
Joe Biden, US president, said that it was the first time they has verifiably destroyed an entire stockpile of known and chemical weapons.
