Russian Defense Minister arrives in North Korea

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced, that a Russian military delegation headed by the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, has arrived in North Korea.

The ministry said in a statement: “At Sunan International Airport (a suburb of the capital, Pyongyang), an official ceremony was held for the Russian delegation. With the participation of a guard of honour from the Korean People’s Army.”

On the airstrip, the Minister of Defence of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, General Kang Sun Nam. Welcomed the Russian Defense Minister of the Russian Federation (Shoygu).

The Russian military delegation takes part in the celebrations dedicated to the 70th anniversary. Of the victory of the Korean people in the National Liberation War, 1950–1953.

The Russian Ministry of Defence indicated that “this visit will help strengthen military relations between Russia and North Korea. And will become an important stage in the development of cooperation between the two countries.”

North Korea will also receive a high-level delegation from China this week. Which arrives to participate in the celebrations marking the anniversary of the end of the Korean War.
